Tem uma hora em que o teu passado te bate na cara, corta a tua alma como se fosse uma faca afiada, tira o chão debaixo dos teus pés e te deixa numa enseada de clichês tristes, mundanos, justamente aqueles que você jurou nunca usar. Mas….como dizer adeus (goodbye) a uma pessoa que se ama, que se amou e cujas intimidades estão entregues ali, como se fosse um lixo, como se fosse um confissionario? Como? Não ha como. Só ha como chorar.

The world is in mourning. Television in mourning and the ABSURDITY of hate crimes.This has been an absolutely terrible week: 3 beautiful young kids in North Carolina, killed because of who they were: Muslims. The media wants us to believe it’s all about a parking spot. It’s not. The assassin, Craig Stephen Hicks, is a Nazi. The victims, almost picture perfect role model kids: Deah Shaddy Barakat (23 years old, a dentist), his wife, Yusor Mohammad, 21 and her sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19. I cannot believe this is happening in the same USA where Eric Garner and Mike Brown were killed for who they were. What do we do? How do we scream? In what language? In how many tears?
And the world of Television is in mourning:
-Brian Williams, the # 1 name in anchoring, suspended without pay (practically fired from NBC) for “enlarging” stories. Not lies but reports.
-Bob Simon (60 Minutes, CBS) just died in a car crash in Manhattan ! This man survived captivity under Saddam Hussein and billions of other ordeals and, at age 73, still very active, dead because of a car crash.
-Jon Stewart announces he’s leaving the Daily Show (on a lighter note).

O mundo está de luto. Televisão de luto e o ABSURDO que são esses crimes odiosos baseados, puramente, na ignorância e no preconceito. Essa tem sido uma semana horrivel: 3 garotos lindos, de North Carolina, mortos, assassinados simplesmente porque são o que são: Islamicos. A midia quer nos fazer acreditar que foi tudo por causa de uma vaga de estacionamento. Que ridiculo! O assassino, Craig Stephen Hicks, é um Nazista.

É duro de acreditar que isso esta acontecendo nos mesmos EUA onde Eric Garner e Mike Brown foram assassinados porque eram quem eram!
E o mundo televisivo esta de luto tambem:
– Brian Williams, o principal ancora do pais (e editor geral de noticias da NBC) suspenso por 6 meses por ter “exagerado” algumas das reportagens (como se o ser humano tivesse que ser um robot sem pontos de vista).
– Bob Simon, um dos nomes mais antigos e respeitados (do programa 60 Minutes), morto num acidente de carro em plena Manhattan. Sobreviveu a 41 dias de prisão e tortura debaixo de Saddam Hussein e more assim, num desastre de automovel.
– E, numa nota mais leve, Jon Stewart avisa que vai deixar o seu programa satirico diario no Comedy Channel, o Daily Show. Essa semana ainda não passou, mas ja deixou o mundo bastante mais triste.

David Fromkin, via Fareed Zakaria and the survival of the “defeatist” !

“When modern Middle Eastern terrorism first appeared on the scene in the 1960s and 1970s, the historian David Fromkin wrote an essay in Foreign Affairs that is perhaps the best guide to understanding the phenomenon. He pointed out that from its very beginnings, after the French Revolution, terrorism has been a strategy of the weak, designed to project false strength and, above all, make onlookers miscalculate.

Fromkin provided two examples that offer powerful lessons. He recounted a meeting in 1945 with a leader of the Irgun, a group of about 1,500 Jewish militants in Palestine, which was then part of the British empire. The Irgun knew they could not defeat the mighty British army, so they decided to blow up buildings and create the appearance of chaos. “This, he [the Irgun leader] said, would lead the British to overreact by garrisoning the country,” drawing forces from across the empire. That would strain British coffers and eventually London would have to leave Palestine. Fromkin noted that “the Irgun, seeing that it was too small to defeat Great Britain, decided, as an alternative approach, that Britain was big enough to defeat itself.”

O Paraíso da Bandidagem

New York – O episódio de “Law and Order, Criminal Intent”, com Jeff Goldbloom, girava em torno de um dono de uma mega companhia de segurança (prestadora de segurança até para embaixadas) e que tinha poder de voto pras próximas duas Olimpíadas. O nome Rio de Janeiro foi pronunciado inúmeras vezes. Fotos do Pão de Açúcar, do Cristo, etc., eram mostradas o tempo todo. Mas são vários Laws and Orders. Cada núcleo é diferente: o melhor ainda é o “SVU, o Special Victims Unit”: pessoas mutiladas, estupradas, aos berros, aos prantos. Assim.

Jay Leno está dando um basta. Chega! Vai criar uma “cruzada” contra tudo isso. Eu, que não gostava de Leno, estou começando a gostar.

Tenho notado, recentemente (mais que nunca), que o bandido da história “a essa hora já poderia estar num avião em direção ao Rio de Janeiro”. A série “CSI Miami” chegou a abrir um braço chamado “CSI Brazil” e assim por diante. Sim, onde quero chegar? Não é de hoje que se equaciona o Rio (não o Brasil) com o “paraíso da bandidagem”. Chegou lá, viveu bem pra sempre.

Hollywood sempre soube disso. Ronald Biggs também.

Nossa sociedade aqui é movida a armas. Nossa! Tudo aqui gira em torno delas. Não há seriado (exceto um, dois ou três) que não tem pistola, bazuca, anti-missel. O povo ama a polícia, ao contrário do povo brasileiro. Aqui, os heróis são os Marines.

Nao é à toa que o Superman, o herói kryptonictico, Batman, Homem Aranha e tudo isso, surgiram aqui. Somos doentiamente fascinados com a farda! Com os aviões supersônicos, com as bombas, com os computers que conseguem identificar (através de um fio de cabelo) alguém numa rua no Cairo.

Desde “Flashpoint” até NCSI, Cold Case, Burn Notice, In Plain Sight, 24 ou MILHARES de outros (a cabeça chega a doer) parace que o plano é assim: “TEMOS AS ARMAS, TEMOS OS INSTRUMENTOS BÉLICOS. Agora vamos armar a trama, o complô pra meter tudo isso dentro.”, pensam os produtores.

Kojak, Colombo, Shaft e até Beretta e Sarsky and Hutch eram violentos também. Mas, deus me livre! Nada parecido com o que se vê hoje: a bala penetrando como se fosse uma foda rápida, rasgando as artérias, o sangue manchando as paredes como se fosse um jorro de gozo, o corpo morto numa cama metálica do médico legista e isso TODOS os DIAS em TODOS os canais

Então não vamos bancar os hipócritas: quando o insano lá, aquele nazista, entra no Museu do Holocausto em Washington DC e acaba matando o guarda negro, o que ele esperava? Escapar e pegar um avião e ir para “a Rio de Janeiro” e viver os poucos anos que lhe sobram? Quem começou essa coisa de chamar o Rio de paraíso dos bandidos? Sinatra? Ginger Rogers e Astaire?

Orson Welles? Quem?

Amanhã à noite teremos uma vigília em Washington Square Park em memória de Sean Goldman. É a triste constatação de que terão se passado cinco anos que o menino foi seqüestrado down to Rio de Janeiro.
